Lynnhaven United Methodist Church recently reached its 150-year anniversary since its founding, and with that historic mark reached, we have so many blessings to celebrate together!
In order to recognize the amazing memories of God’s faithfulness and provision brought to and through LUMC generations over the past 150 years, as well as the tremendous promise of God’s future goodness which will surely come through our church’s love and service, we are devoting the week of September 8-15, 2024 for a time of celebration - through worship, service, prayer, love and fellowship as a church family.
Whether you currently attend our church or have done so in the past, whether you’ve served LUMC as a former pastor or staff member, or whether you are a neighbor in the community in search of a church home, you are family to us.
We welcome you to come home, and we hope that you will join us at the 150-year Anniversary Celebration of Lynnhaven United Methodist Church!
Sunday, September 8th
We will start our celebration with a single worship service at 10am.
Following worship, we will simultaneously kick off a day of service, as well as a 150-hour prayer campaign. The day of service will commence following worship, where we will have several service opportunities in and around the church for folks to participate in, including a Rise Against Hunger event in the Fellowship Hall which will allow us to prepare and box 10,000+ meals for distribution to food-starved nations overseas. Click here to sign up to participate in the Rise Against Hunger event.
The 150-hour prayer campaign will start at 11am on Sunday and be completed at 5pm on Saturday, September 14th – each participant will have the ability to sign up and pledge a time of prayer, thanking God for his bounty of blessings and seeking his guidance for LUMC, during one (or several) of the 150 one-hour timeslots. To sign up to participate, click here.
Wednesday, September 11th
We will gather in the Sanctuary at 7pm for an Oral Recitation of the history of LUMC which will incorporate an old-fashioned Hymn Sing, wherein we will worship with the singing of some of our favorite, traditional hymns. The History/Hymn Sing service will be followed by a dessert/ice cream social in the Fellowship Hall. If you would like to request a ride to this event, please contact Matt Foster at mrfwahoo@gmail.com.
Saturday, September 14th
Our Homecoming Weekend will feature a Saturday night fellowship celebration at 4pm, featuring music, family fun, memory reminiscing, and of course, plenty of wonderful food! Sign up here to join us.
Sunday, September 15th
We will conclude our Homecoming Weekend on Sunday, September 15th. We will begin the day by honoring our God through worship in two worship services, held at 9am and 11am.
Later that afternoon, Pastor Robbins and his family will host an Open House at the parsonage from 3 to 5pm, encouraging folks to drop-in and fellowship together, as we conclude our 150th celebration week's events. Click here to sign up to attend the open house.
