Throughout the season of Lent, we will be posting weekly scriptures, prayers, and inspirational testimonies recounting God's presence in the midst of great difficulty.
Lent is a season when we reflect on Christ's sacrifices for us, this ultimate sign of God's love, and when we remember that just as God was with Jesus in the Garden, God is with us in the midst of our greatest trials.
Please forgive me when I forget who I am and fall back into the old patterns of my thinking: the haughty, selfish thoughts; the insecure, self-pitying thoughts; the bitter, vengeful thoughts; the negative, judgmental thoughts; the unholy, immoral thoughts; the anxious, fear-filled thoughts. It is written that I am no longer of this world because You have chosen me out of this world. Cleanse me of my worldly, unrighteous thoughts and renew my mind with Your Word, Your Spirit and Your Love. Let me be transformed to the image of Jesus Christ. In His Name, I pray. Amen.
Lord, we thank You for standing with us every moment of every day. We ask that You guide us to be in this world, not of this world. During this Lenten season, Lord, we pray that our focus will be on You. We ask that our thoughts will be on You. We ask that You let Your Light shine through us that we may show Your love, peace and humility in all that we do. Father, we thank You for sending Your Son to give us Eternal Life through His death and resurrection. We love you, Lord. Amen
Heavenly Father, help us to learn to always be Your beloved children and seek to always follow the example of Your Son. Give us Godly wisdom to discern and pursue Your example of righteousness. We pray for Your strength to follow Your Way, have enduring faith in You, and gentleness and love towards our fellow man. Let us always remember that the spirit You give us in Christ is not of fear, but of power, love and sound judgement. Amen
By the time Jesus came to earth, there were more than six hundred religious laws. Jesus pointed out that by loving the one true God with every aspect of our being and to love our neighbor is to sum up all the laws for daily living.
Lord God, draw me to You so my love will increase and overflow for the holiness of who You are; and develop in me ways to exhibit genuine love for everyone I encounter. Lord, let these very words rule my thoughts and actions. When decisions of the day come before me, Lord, give me the discretion and strength to choose which course of action best demonstrates heart, mind and soul love for God.
Help us to turn our eyes away from worldly temptations and watch for Your guidance.
We’re surrounded by forces and voices that lure us to look away from You and follow their evil, fleshly temptations.
We are numbed by the virus and the relentless pounding of electronic media. The temptations of power, wealth and materialism attack our flesh and the fabric of our families and community.
Come Holy Spirit; open our eyes and give us the strength to do Your will to defeat worldly temptations and live as Your disciples. Amen
I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against You, and You only, have I sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so You are right in Your verdict and justified when You judge.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from Your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me. Amen
Lord, there is so much I do not know. Sometimes, I can be a know it all, but when I come into Your presence I see the truth. I am a mere mortal. You are the Lord of this universe. God, I submit to you. I want to learn from You. I want to hear from You. There are so many things I have not learned to recognize and understand. There are also so many things that I’m just not yet aware of.
Whether blinded by Satan or by my own pride, I can miss many things. Would You open the eyes of my heart? I want to see You and hear You. My great privilege in life is to know You. Amen.

Lord, you know what is coming tomorrow, next week, and next month. You are the only one who can really prepare my heart for all that is ahead. The only way I can plan for the future is to stay pressed in close to you.
It is not easy to follow you when you show up in a way that contradicts what I believe and makes it difficult to understand.
I ask that you grant me wisdom to distinguish and grasp all that you have for me. Would you make me as wise and discerning as I can be? I don’t want to miss anything!
Lord, thank you that I can call to you, and you will answer me. I’m grateful that you will show me great and mighty things that are fenced in and hidden.
This is an amazing promise. I understand this is always about more than me.
I claim it today. In Jesus’s name, I pray, Amen.
